Colombians for Peace say govt is responsible for hostage release

NGO Colombians for Peace said the government was responsible for the recovery of six FARC-held hostages, in an interview with RCN Radio Tuesday.

“Let [the government] provide the necessary logistics, without being delayed by political and military pride,” said Marleny Orjuela, a representative for the civil group.

“We invite the defense minister and the President of the Republic to put on the shirt of humanity for a few seconds, and provide the logistics necessary for the liberation of our loved ones.” said Orjuela.

This follows the Colombian Defense Minister’s condemnation of the civil group’s proposal to privately finance the recovery operation through donations.
