Colombian cyclist Rigoberto Uran of Team Sky will be wearing the white jersey for the Tour de France’s best young rider in Sunday’s 15th stage after finishing 5th in Saturday’s stage.
The Colombian was part of a group of 20 that broke away early in the race and at one point had more than six minutes advantage on the following pack.
Uran was unable to match the acceleration of Belgian Jelle Vanendert at the end of the 105-mile mountainous trek and finished 5th, 48 seconds behind the winner.
The Colombian’s excellent performance pushed him to the 11th position of this year’s Tour, seven minutes and 55 seconds behind leader Thomas Voeckler, but also to the top of the young riders’ rankings, one minute and seven seconds before the runner up, Estonian Rein Taaramae.
Cofidis rider Leonardo Duque, Colombia’s second representative in the tour, occupies the 125th spot at one hour, 51 minutes and 42 seconds.
