Colombian thief caught snoozing on the job

A dozy Colombian thief was collared by police after sneaking a snooze on the roof of the shop he was trying to rob on Sunday.

The attempted robbery took place in the San Francisco neighborhood of Bucaramanga, a few blocks from the Santander police station.

“In the evening a man entered the room from the roof, opened a hole in the tile and stole several items,” said officer Aurelio Pedroza Mario Sandoval of the Santander police.

The cat-burglar turned cat-napper was discovered the next day when the shop owner arrived to find the hole in the roof with the robber’s hand poking through. “It’s a very strange case,” said the owner, “but we thank God he fell asleep in the act of vandalism.”

The thief was so far gone in dreamland that a neighbor had to pour water on him to wake him up. After an unsuccessful escape attempt, the narcoleptic crook was caught by the police where he once again fell asleep while in handcuffs.
