Colombian textile firm exports up by 136%

Exports of financially troubled Colombian textile company Coltejer grew by 136% in the first semester of 2011 financial publication Portafolio reported Thursday.

External sales of Coltejer products grew by 136% compared to the same period in 2010. This is according to a report submitted by the company to Colombia’s financial regulatory body.

The reports states that in 2010, exports exceeded $9.25 million, and in 2011 they reached $21.83 million. This contributed to total sales growing by 40.5%. In terms of national sales, growth stood at 22%.

One year ago internal sales were valued $47.04 million and in 2011 grew to $57.26 million. However, the results still represent a net loss of $8.82 million. Three years ago, Coltejer was on the brink of collapse.
