Colombian tennis player Alejandro Falla secured place in the second round of the ATP Open in Estoril, Portugal, local media reported Tuesday.
Falla, ranked 135 in the world, edged slightly closer to the final when his opponent was forced to retire after nearly two hours of play. Falla had lost the first set 4-6, won the second 6-1 and was drawing the final set 4-4 when Spain’s Pablo Andujar, currently ranked 51 in the world, had to retire.
After a bad start to the year in January, Falla has reached the quarter finals of the ATP Delray Beach competition and the second round of the Indian Open.
