Colombian soldiers filmed using dog for shooting practice

Colombia’s army on Saturday condemned a video in which soldiers are shown using a dog for shooting practice.

The dog, according to an army spokesman, survived the shooting and is recovering well.

The four soldiers who were filmed shooting at the dog have been identified, but not been tried four months after shooting the dog.

“This is a regrettable and despicable act from the point of view of the National Army. Some young soldiers in an unusual game commited an act of indiscipline which will be subject to investigation of military justice,” Colonel Fabian Estevez told W Radio.

Colombia’s security forces have been embarrassed by acts of animal cruelty carried out by its members several times this year.
