A Colombian soccer player who was given a year ban after being caught using drugs was signed by Independiete Santa Fe on Friday.
Wilder Medina was banned from the game for 12 months in September 2011 and was subsequently released by Deportes Tolima after he was caught smoking marijuana.
Medina tested positive in four drug tests, afterwards admitting that he had an addiction to the drug.
Now though, almost exactly a year to the day, it seems Medina has been given a second chance and Santa Fe president Cesar Pastrana said he was glad to have recruited the 31-year-old striker.
“Wilder will have a special contract with us and have some restrictions… I think he is a great striker and he can bring a lot of good football to Santa Fe with a view to the Copa Libertadores 2013,” said Pastrana in an interview with Caracol Radio.
