The aggression Colombia soccer coach Hernan Dario Gomez released on a woman Saturday has “hit the image of soccer” as well, assured President of Colombia’s Soccer Federation Luis Bedoya.
“These are the facts that one has to evaluate; Hernan Dario is an example for the country, and beyond that this is not our culture. Right now there exists a huge moral sanction,” indicated Bedoya.
“In the next few days, a Executive Committee will meet to define the [Gomez’] situation. This is the way we make decisions in soccer” the soccer federation president told Caracol Radio on Tuesday.
Furthermore, Bedoya revealed that coach Gomez had already agreed to put his position at the disposition of his directors on the condition that it been evaluated at their next meeting.
“I was seated with [Gomez] before his press release (Monday) and I saw in him looking like a very regretful person that is looking for help. He renounced the work that he has done with FIFA in this World Cup. He is ruined; he has problems at home, with his mother and his job,” explained Bedoya.
“Incidents such as this can not be repeated; the (Colombian Soccer) Federation has a responsibility to the country and because of such we must evaluate this situation,” Bedoya pointed out.
