The technical director of development of the Colombian Soccer Federation (Fedefutbol) resigned Monday after disagreeing with the nomination of Gerardo Martino as the new Colombia coach.
Colombian media reported that Francisco Maturana, a former Colombia coach himself, denied that his resignation had anything to do with the recent departure of Hernan Dario Gomez as the head coach.
Maturana has the support of fellow Fedefutbol member Humberto Ortiz, who also disagrees with signing Martino.
Earlier Tuesday, a member of Fedefutbol announced that there is unanimous support to bring Martino on as the new coach.
