Colombian rescue workers to return from Haiti

by Adriaan Alsema January 18, 2010

Colombia news - Haiti help

Colombia on Sunday ordered its rescue workers in Haiti to come home five days after an earthquake destroyed large parts of the Caribbean island and possibly killed 200,000 people.

The rescue teams are called home as hope to find survivers in the destroyed country is fading.

In a press release, Colombian Interior and Justice Minister Fabio Valencia Cossio stresses his country will continue to be involved in the aftermath of the earthquake and flights with aid for the population of Haiti are still scheduled.

According to the Minister, 204 Colombians were sent to Haiti to help find survivors.
