Colombia’s president Juan Manuel Santos on Thursday claimed that the country’s film industry is better than ever before.
Santos made these statements from the 53rd Annual Cartagena Film Festival in Colombia’s Caribbean coastal city.
“Colombia is now the fourth largest film producing country in Latin America; the [film festival] exhibitions have grown 300 percent; attendance reached record highs, from less than 16 million spectators in 2005 to almost 41 million spectators last year,” said the head of state.
In regards to the festival, the oldest of its kind in Latin America, the President said, “The festival has become one of the best film festivals in the world with 290 screenings in only seven days.”
The festival wraps up on Wednesday, February 27.
