Colombian peso update – Thursday, March 8

The Colombian peso strengthened against the dollar for the second consecutive day with one dollar closing 1,764.5 compared to 1,769 the day before.

The reason for this strong performance is optimism about global growth and Greece moving closer to its debt swap, according to Bloomberg. Julian Marquez, a risk analyst at Interbolsa said “Risk appetite is driving gains in the peso today.”

The peso closed at its strongest level in seven months.
