Colombian oil production nearing million barrels a day

Colombia’s petroleum production for August stands at 953,000 barrels a day, up from 783,000 barrels a day registered in July 2010 announced the Mining and Energy Minister.

Mining and Energy Minister Carlos Rodado Noriega said the result in crude oil production was a historic record and “is a strong signal of the viability of reaching one million barrels a day, this year.”

These numbers represent a 21% growth, which was achieved despite disruption to production caused by a workers strike in July in the Rubiales field, owned by Pacific Rubiales.

Meanwhile gas supplies is August managed to increase by a modest 2.4% compared to the same month last year; 1.07 million cubic feet in 2011 versus 1.045 million cubic feet in 2010.
