The Colombian Minister of Transport is facing disciplinary measures from the House of Representatives over his “constant disregard to the requirements of the commission.”
Representatives sent a petition to the Prosecutor General’s Office to open a disciplinary investigation after Minister German Cardona Gutierrez’s failed to show up for various House sessions.
Cardona sent an apology to the lower house of the Congress, but coalition U Party representative Wilson Gomez Velasquez said it was not accepted.
“[Cardona] will be notified personally and in writing to ensure his attendance at next Monday’s session.” said Velasquez.
The U Party representative accused the minister of “taking pictures” during the inauguration of a bridge when he should have been in Congress discussing the current road network crisis.
If Cardona does not change his behavior, the House of Representatives said they may use a vote of no confidence against him.
However, the minister complied to a summons from the Senate on Tuesday, when he attended a debate over the road concessions in the country.
