Colombian military wants to build ‘universal soldier’

The Colombian military announced a “universal soldier” proposal Wednesday, whereby distinctions between regular soldiers, graduates and those undertaking military service would be eliminated.

The concept is built around a desire to provide more standardized and well-rounded training, General Alejandro Navas told news website CM&.

The project will be debated in Congress, and Defense Minister Juan Carlos Pinzon is expected to analyze the training overhaul which would likely come at a steep price for the national goverment.
