Colombian military dismantles 5 ‘FARC’ camps

Armed forces said Monday they have killed one guerrilla and captured another while dismantling five rebel camps in an offensive against the FARC in central Colombia.

According to an army press release, troops dismantled five FARC camps built to house between 30 to 60 guerrillas each.

One unidentified guerrilla was shot dead and 40-year-old FARC fighter alias “Yira” was captured La Macarena, a municipality in the Meta department. Yira, who allegedly fought in the FARC for 16 years, was severely injured in the crossfire.

Additionally, the army seized war material such as rifles, ammunition and two boats.
