Colombian kidnapped in Nigeria

A Colombian is one of four men who were kidnapped near the Nigerian oil hub of Port Harcourt on Tuesday.

According to press agency Reuters, the convoy of the men was attacked by an unknown armed group.

A Nigerian security officer was killed in the incident. No group has yet claimed responsibility.

“The four were expatriates from Netco contractors working at the Afam power plant,” one security source said.

A second source said the four were taken from their vehicles at around 7:30 AM (01:30 ET) on Tuesday.

Kidnapping for ransom is common in the oil-rich, but poor African country.
