Colombian exports rose 7.6% to $3.19b in December

Colombian exports rose 7.6% in December 2009 to $3.19 billion, compared with the year-earlier month, the country’s statistics department, DANE, said Thursday on its website.

Exports of oil, coal, coffee and ferronickel in December rose 38% from a year earlier to $1.88 billion, DANE said. Other exports fell 18% to $1.31 billion.

Exports to Venezuela fell 79% in December from a year earlier to $134 million. The Venezuelan government last year restricted imports from Colombia after a diplomatic spat between the two countries.

Total exports in 2009 fell 13% to $32.85 billion from $37.63 billion in 2008. (Inti Landauro / Dow Jones)
