Colombian designer launches shoe collection for Payless Shoes

Colombian fashion designer Silvia Tcherassi will design two shoe collections for affordable American shoe store Payless Shoes, reported Caracol Radio.

The first of the collections will be released on May 17 and will feature five pairs of shoes from simple sandals to high-fashion designs.

With this collection, the Colombian will join a high-profile list of designers for Payless including Cuban Isabel Toledo and Christian Siriano, the winner of Project Runway series 4.

“The idea of Payless seems fantastic because it is a way to reach many more women,” the designer said. Her spring/summer collection will be available in 15 American cities including New York, Miami, Tampa Bay, Boston and Washington as well as eight cities in Puerto Rico and will reach Latin America by late June.

The collection will focus on classic designs with avant-garde touches such as bright colors, shiny details and mesh. The shoes will retail between $40 and $70.

“They are shoes that we can pack in our suitcase, comfortable and manageable, but they are also casual and sophisticated enough to be used day or night”, said the Barranquilla-born designer.

“Each shoe is a unique piece that reflects the strong international influence of Silvia and is inspired by the vibrant style of the contemporary woman,” said Gaby Alban, Payless fashion expert.

The busy designer, better known for her ready to wear clothing range, also owns a luxury hotel in coastal Cartagena and recently published her first book “Elegancia sin esfuerzo” (Elegance without effort).
