Colombia’s democracy has worsened slightly the past year, according to
the Latin American Index of Democratic Development. It’s still the 8th
most democratic country in Latin America.

Most democratic of all Latin American countries is Costa Rica. Ecuador scored the worst.

The index yearly compares democratic values in Latin America.

Colombia’s score slipped slightly from 4.778 in 2007 to 4.660 this year. It’s the first time since 2004 the democracy seems to be worsening. the three years before it’s gone from 3 to 4.8.

The decrease in democracy is blamed on the increase of corruption.
