Colombian companies have poor Internet presence

A study by Llorente & Cuenca indicates that 95% of Colombia’s business that are listed on the stock market have a poor Internet presence, financial paper Portafolio reported Tuesday.

Only 5% of Colombia firms appear in the top three search results when key words related to the business of the company are entered. Most companies show up on search results after 30 or more links.

The companies most actively presented on the Internet are telecommunications companies, followed by oil and gas firms, mining companies and steel companies.

The report notes that the companies neglect to promote themselves online, causing them to miss out on the advantages of social networks, forums, blogs and online advertising.
