Colombian drug cartel kingpin Oscar Varela Garcia, alias “Capachivo,” was on Wednesday extradited to the U.S. to face charges of drug-trafficking and money laundering, reported Colombian media.

Valera Garcia was arrested by Colombian police in the western department of Valle del Cauca in July 2008 for allegedly leading the drug cartel “Los Machos,” which was previously controlled by extradited narco-trafficker Diego Leon Montoya Sanchez, alias “Don Diego.”

The former cartel capo was transported on Wednesday morning to a Florida jail, where he will await trial in a U.S. courts.

According to Caracol Radio, five other men charged with drug-trafficking were also transported via helicopter to the U.S. in response to extradition requests by the North American country.
