A Colombian commission responsible for telecommunication reported over 1.2 million of the internet connections are now broadband, using either cable, xDSL or wifi. Less than 200.000 households use dial-up connections.Colombia’s current internet penetration rate of 2,75 percent only is exceeded by Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Mexico, Brasil and Venezuela.The vast mayority of internet users in Colombia now has a 200 or 300 kbps connection. 82,7 percent of the connection is for residential use, 16,5 percent for businesses and 0,9 percent for collective centers like schools or government programs to endorse the use and knowledge of internet.The same research shows that at the end of 2007 one out of four Colombians uses the internet regularly.
