Colombian army kills FARC ringleader

A commander of one of the FARC’s mobile columns has been killed in combat in the eastern Colombian department of Arauca, the army announces.

According to the army website, troops of the 8th division killed the guerrilla ringleader, his girlfriend and a third FARC member near the town of Tame, 40 miles of the Venezuelan border.

“While carrying out offensive operations (troops) killed alias “Fabian,” second in command of this mobile column, and alias “Katherine,” squadron commander of the same illegal armed group. During the fighting a third person last his life,” the army said.
