Colombian army destroys 18,000 hectares of illegal crops

The Colombian army have destroyed more than 18,000 hectares of illegal crops since the beginning of the year, announced the national army’s official website.

The ministry clarified that 650 hectares of illegal substances were destroyed through manual uprooting, while some 17,853 were eradicated through fumigation.

The army have also located 89 cocaine laboratories and seized more than 70,000 gallons of fuel that was being used for the production process.

Army units deployed throughout the country with the mission to destroy such illegal crops have so far this year seized two tons of cocaine paste, 16 tons of coca leaves and one ton of marijuana.
