Colombian among finalists of Google Photography Contest

Juan Camilo is the only Colombian among 36 finalists of the Google
Photography Contest. This Wednesday the organizers of the competition
will announce the most popular six who will have the opportunity to
exhibit at the Saatchi Gallery in London.

If it was not for Juan Camilo’s girlfriend, he would not have heard of the Photography Contest. Now he is one of the finalists out of 3,500 competitors from 82 countries.

The 22-year-old was not always interested in photography. He wanted to become a pilot of the Air Force of Colombia. A dream that did not come true. But then he discovered the many possibilities of a career in Industrial Design.

And Juan Camilo started photographing. “I liked to see how, through the lens, things look different than we [normally] see them”, the student told El Colombiano.

His family and friends are sure that Juan Camilo will travel to London. He also decided to specialize in photography.

The winner of the Google Photography Contest will receive a prize of U.S.$ 7,500.
