Colombian airline tickets to drop in price: Minister

Colombia´s Trade and Tourism Minister announces that the price of airline tickets is to fall from April 1, reported Caracol Radio Wednesday.

Minister Sergio Diaz-Granados said the fare drop is a result of dropping the fuel surcharge which created a flat rate. “From April 1, airlines will be able to set prices as they wish and we encourage greater competition,” he said.

The minister added “What the country needs is a space so that competition can work and the airlines can set their prices freely according to supply and demand.”

Diaz-Granados stated he is confidence that this will need to better prices for Colombian users.
