Colombia wins business award from UN

‘Red Colombiana,’ a network consisting of over 25 Colombian businesses, was acknowledged by the UN on Friday for being one of the best performing groups in the Global Pact Network.

Red Colombiana was given an award in New York City on Friday morning for being one of the top ten Global Pacts in the world for performance and communication.

The Global Pact, also called the Global Compact, represents a UN-sponsored agreement of voluntary companies from around the world, that state their intent to abide by universal principles in the fields of human rights, labor standards, the environment, and anti-corruption.

Representatives of Red Colombiana accepted the prize on Friday, which read: “In recognition of your performance in communication, collaboration, and information sharing, the Global Compact Office wishes to acknowledge Global Compact Network Colombia as one of the top ten best performing networks.”

Over 100 people attended the ceremony, including presidents of companies, civil society leaders, and government and UN representatives.
