Colombia win Sudamericano Sub-20 opener

Colombia have begun their Sudamericano Sub 20 campaign with a 1-0 win
over Peru. The only goal of the match was scored on 34 minutes.

The tournament started two days ago but as each group consists of five teams, there will always be one that has the day off. Since Colombia had that day off on Monday, their campaign began against the Peruvians.

In the first half, the difference between the two sides was clear as Colombia dominated and got their reward through Yamith Cuesta. A free kick ended up near the goal and the Expreso Rojo player headed home from close range.

In the second half, the best chance was once again for Colombia but the ball bounced off the post. Peru attacked more in the dying minutes but failed to get the goal they craved.

Colombia now share the Group A lead with Ecuador, who face hosts Venezuela later today. Peru are last with zero points from two games.
