Colombia rose from 36 to 35 in the FIFA soccer federation world ranking.
“Los Cafeteros,” hours from signing Argentine Jose Pekerman as their head coach, saw their global position improve slightly due to a five-point drop by Egypt which went from 31 to 36.
Colombia has 709 points, which is only three less than Peru, who Colombia faces in the next match in the 2014 World Cup qualifiers.
The FIFA ranking is topped by world champion Spain.
