Most of the Colombian refugees are on the run for the fighting between the Colombian army and the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), but a substantial number are forcibly displaced by armed rebels or paramilitary groups. This year a large number of people were displaced by extreme rainfall, followed by landslides and floods.Globally, a total of 35,6 million people are refugee. More than two third of them are displaced within their own country. Especially the conflicts in Iraq and Afghanistan are causing a rise in the number of refugees.
