Colombia to investigate Italian trafficker

Colombian police will investigate Italian drug-trafficker Giorgio Sale’s possible connections with past criminal cases in the country, Caracol Radio reported Thursday.

A prosecutor from the money laundering unit is looking for any direct or indirect mention of Sale, who has previously been linked to the AUC paramilitary coalition.

Judicial police will begin searching through all previous criminal cases for mentions of Sale, his properties and his alleged connection with former paramilitary bosses.

The search will focus on criminal proceedings in Cartagena and surrounding municipalities in the department of Bolivar.
