Colombia to investigate campaign financing of 120 candidates

Colombia’s National Electoral Council (CNE) decided to investigate 120 governor and mayoral candidates for failing to submit information regarding to the financing of their political campaigns, according to Colombian media.

According to the President of the CNE, Jose Joaquin Vives, only 210 of 330 candidates have complied with the campaign requirements to submit a report regarding the funds behind their campaign.

The fine for not submitting the relevant campaign financing information to the CNE ranges from $5,000 to $50,000.
