Colombia striker Carlos Bacca wins Belgium award

Colombia striker Carlos Bacca was rewarded for his fine recent form Tuesday by being voted the best soccer player in Belgium for September.

Bacca has scored nine consecutive league goals for his team Club Bruges and in doing so etched his name into the club’s history books as the first player to achieve the feat.

After receiving the award Bacca said. “I’m happy for this new achievement to be the best player in the Jupiler Pro League for the month of September. I thank all those who trust in me, and my colleagues in Bruges because without them it would be impossible to have achieved this. This is an award for eveyone.”

The 26-year old’s achievements further emphasizes the growing reputation Colombian players are gaining in Europe with Radamel Falcao, James Rodriguez and Jackson Martinez all starring for their clubs in recent months.

Bacca arrived in Belgium at the end of last season from Colombian Premier A side Junior.
