Spanish giants Real Madrid look set to beat the English Premier League’s Chelsea to the signature of Colombian forward Radamel Falcao Garcia, a Portuguese newspaper reported Wednesday.
Portuguese daily El Bola de Portugal claimed that former Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has convinced Porto star Falcao Garcia to reject the Blue’s offer, believed to be worth $8 million a year, in favor of joining the “Galacticos” of Madrid.
Madrid will have to pay $40-65 million to activate the release clause in Garcia’s contract. However he is to remain with the Portuguese champions for the coming season as Porto strive for a third successive treble and will join Madrid next summer.
According to other reports, Real’s local rival, Atletico Madrid is also interested in the Colombian striker.
