Colombia seeking to become premier destination to learn Spanish

Colombia is hoping to become the number one destination to learn Spanish. In order to succeed, several Colombian private and public institutions have joined hands.

The bureau of inter-institutional articulation, formed by the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Education, and Culture; Proexport, Fiducoldex, Country Brand Colombia, ICETEX, APC, and the Caro y Cuervo Institute is working to achieve this initiative set forth by President Juan Manuel Santos.

“Based on our well-earned reputation as the best Spanish-speaking nation, we look to unite the strength and reputation of the institute Caro y Cuervo with universities and private businesses to turn Colombia into the largest destination in Latin America to learn Spanish as a second language” said a statement from the Ministry of Culture.

The statement also stresses the variety of activities available in Colombia.

“You cannot forget Colombian culture to complement what you have learned. You can attend exhibitions, concerts, book presentations and conferences or you can tour the country and take in beautiful sun drenched beaches and sea.”

The ministry explains that beginning August 1, all information can be accessed from spanishcolombia.gov.uk.
