Colombia requests arrest of Venezuelan lawmaker for alleged FARC ties

A Colombian judge requested the arrest of a member of Venezuela’s delegation to the Latin American Parliament for the politician’s alleged ties to the FARC.

Amilcar Figueroa Salazar is one of the most prominent members of Venezuela’s left wing political wing and according to according to Colombian intelligence known as ‘Tino’, one of the guerrillas’ main allies in Venezuela and mediator for the guerrillas with arms traders.

Colombia says it found emails in computers belonging to slain FARC commander ‘Raul Reyes’ that prove the Venezuelan lawmaker’s ties to the guerrillas. Colombia wants to try Figuerora on terrorism charges.

The Venezuelan politician already had been arrested in Panama, but was released after Venezuelan pressure.
