Colombia raises number of AH1N1 cases to 10

Ten people are confirmed to have the AH1N1 virus in Colombia, the National Health Institute (INS) announced Thursday.

Colombian health authorities so far received 607 reports of people who possible carry the AH1N1 virus.

  • 415 cases proved not to be the virus
  • 180 cases are considered suspicious and tested
  • 2 cases are considered probable and tested
  • 10 cases were confirmed to be AH1N1

The three new confirmed cases are all from Yopal, Casanare, where the virus already had been confirmed.

According to the INS, the patients are all treated at home and responding well to the antiviral treatment they are receiving. The are voluntarily kept away from family members or others they could infect.

The virological department of the INS has so far ruled that 336 suspected AH1N1 cases are not the feared virus after examining samples of the patients in laboratories.
