Over 770,000 Colombians affected by rainy season

Another 30,000 Colombian have suffered because of heavy rains the past week, the director of the Colombian Red Cross said Sunday.

Since March, the beginning of the rainy season, a total of 770,000 people’s property has been damaged, 76 people died, 159 were injured and fifteen are missing due to the rains, Red Cross director Carlos Ivan Marquez Gomez told Colombian radio.

The director of the Red Cross also reported that “the Red Cross has supported those people affected with more than 200 tons of food aid and has medically treated about 50,000 of them.”

The areas of greatest concern are located near the Cauca and Magdalena Rivers.
