Colombia rains kill 23, affect 67,000

by Adriaan Alsema October 15, 2011

Cali Colombia floods

Colombia’s second rainy season this year has killed 23 and affected over 67,000, a Red Cross report revealed Friday.

According to the relief organization, rains have destroyed 116 homes and damaged more 10,000 since September 1.

25 of Colombia’s 32 departments have been affected by the rains that are expected to fall until the beginning of December.

So far, this rainy season is far less severe than the ones in 2010 when more than 400 Colombians died and over 2 million were affected.
