Ex-prosecution executive to be investigated for financial irregularities

The former head of the investigative branch of Colombia’s Prosecutor General’s Office will be investigated over an alleged overcharge for vehicles when she was in office.

The investigation will seek to determine if Carmen Maritza Gonzalez, the head of Colombia’s Technical Investigation Team from November 2010 to April 2012, received any compensation in the acquisition of 40 vehicles with sophisticated security and electronic systems.

The market value of each vehicle was $16,700 however Maritza allegedly paid $44,700.

Maritza was fired from her post in April after the prosecutor general determined her to be “ineffectual.”
