Colombia wants ovens to burn drugs

Colombia has asked the U.S. and other countries to help the South American country in setting up a crematorium for drugs seized by authorities, Caracol Radio reported Tuesday.

Colombia asked its allies to donate several ovens which will be used to burn drugs seized from traffickers and criminals. The scheme is a way of reducing pollution created when burning cocaine and marijuana outside.

This current method adopted by the National Police and Armed Forces is causing serious ecological problems to the surrounding areas.

The furnaces will be placed in areas near Cartagena and Tumaco, where most of the drugs are seized.

The donations will be made through the existing agreement which are in place between Colombia and its allies to help in the fight against drugs.
