Colombia ninth cleanest country in the world

Colombia is the world’s ninth cleanest and environmentally friendly country, a U.S. environmental study shows.

According to U.S. weekly Forbes, the country’s coffee and flower industry are being managed wisely and “ironically, the presence of guerrillas and drug lords also makes the
countryside hard to develop, even as developers rapidly cut down
rainforest in neighboring Brazil.”

Colombia is the first runner up of Latin America’s clean countries on the Environmental Performance Index, following Costa Rica.

The country index was made by Columbia University’s Center for International Earth Science
Information Network and Yale University’s Center for Environmental Law
and Policy.
