Colombia mourns loss of Lina Marulanda

by Adriaan Alsema April 23, 2010

Colombia news - Lina Marulanda

The news of Thursday’s suicide of model and television host Lina Marulanda was received with shock and sadness by Colombians, reported several media.

The 29-year-old beauty died after jumping off the balcony of her 6th-floor apartment in northern Bogota.

According to Bogota police, everything indicates that the celebrity killed herself. Testimonies by her family reveal that Marulanda had locked herself in her room only moments before she fell to her death.

Several of Marulanda’s friends stated in the media that the celebrity had not been doing well following the divorce of her second husband only a few months ago.

“She wasn’t going through an easy period, with her second divorce and most recent business. We were going to meet up these days, but she said she wanted to be alone,” actress and friend Alejandra Azcarate was quoted as saying by newspaper El Colombiano.

Marulanda started her modeling career at age 14 and spent years hosting the news on CM& Noticias and Noticias Caracol.
