Colombia market update – June 28, 2011

The Colcap index improved slightly after the long weekend with a gain of 0.07%. Volume was below average at COP$110.4 billion, but still above that seen last Friday.

Fabricato led the way as it shot up 3.28%, year to date it¡¦s up 134.20%. Despite a strong performance in oil prices today, Canacol fell 3.51%, and the other major oil producers Ecopetrol and Pacific Rubiales edged down 0.26% and 0.21%, respectively.

Ecopetrol reported production on June 23rd set the record for the highest in a single day at 753,440 barrels of oil equivalent. Production in the 1st quarter of 2011 averaged 686,200bpd.

The peso appreciated relatively strongly to the dollar as it closed at 1,782.35.
