Colombia maintains position in FIFA world ranking

Colombia has maintained its 6th position in the FIFA World Ranking, the global soccer organization announced Thursday.

FIFA Ranking May 2013

  1. Spain
  2. Germany
  3. Argentina
  4. Croatia
  5. Portugal
  6. Colombia
  7. England
  8. Italy
  9. Netherlands
  10. Ecuador

The “Cafeteros” have been sixth since January after briefly peaking as fifth best soccer nation in the world in December.

Colombia has 1154 points and is only nine points behind portugal.

However, the Cafeteros have to keep an eye on the performances of England which also fails nine points to reach Colombia’s position.

FACT SHEET: Colombia’s FIFA ranking since August 2010

The only Latin American country ranking higher than Colombia is soccer giant Argentina. Brazil is ranked 19th because — as host of the 2014 World Cup — they are exempt from playing international games.
