Colombia imports up 31.9% on year: DANE

Colombia’s imports were up 31.9% in August compared to the same month last year, government statistics agency DANE announced on Thursday.

According to the agency’s report, imports amounted to $4.7 billion against $3.6 billion the year before.

The growth is mainly due to the increased import of car parts that saw a 50.9% rise, said DANE.

From January to August, Colombia imported 38.9% more than in the same period last year.
