Colombia held by Ecuador at Under-20 Championship

Colombia haven’t been able to add a second consecutive win to their
account in the South American Under-20 Championships, drawing 0-0 with
Ecuador.

Both teams beat Peru in their respective opening games -with Ecuador then drawing 0-0 with Venezuela-, and Friday’s draw basically leaves them on course for a spot in the next round. However, it won’t be easy as tournament favorites Argentina and hosts Venezuela await in Colombia’s remaining group games.

As against Peru, Colombia were again slightly dominant. A lack of pace was their biggest problem though, as each attack was eventually ended by Ecuador’s defense without their keeper having to do much at all.

Colombia had a few good opportunities but the forwards were too slow to launch powerful shots on Ecuador’s goal.

Next Sunday, Colombia face Argentina in what should be a crucial game.
