Colombia has the second highest number of bank holidays in the world, a study by a major booking website revealed Tuesday.

Most bank holidays in the world

  1. Colombia (18)
  2. Russia (12)
    Italy (12)

Most paid vacation days in the world

  1. Russia (28)
  2. Sweden (25)
    Finland (25)
    France (25)

According to the study, Argentina is the only country with more bank holidays.

Colombia has a total of 18 bank holidays, while Argentina has 19. Russia and Italy both share the third place with 12 bank holidays.

Despite its high number of holidays, Colombia is not in the top three of countries with most paid holidays. According to the study, the Latin American country is tenth with a total of 33 paid days off per year.

Russia, Italy and Sweden top that list because of their large number of paid vacation days, respectively 28, 24 and 25. Colombia, with 15 paid vacation days and 18 bank holidays is 10th in the Hoteles.com list.

Colombia’s Congress is currently debating adding yet another bank holiday to the calendar as it wants to create a national holiday in the honor of Laura of Saint Catherine of Siena, the country’s only native saint.
