Colombia is expecting some 860,000 little Colombians to be born this year, the country’s Health Ministry announced on Thursday.
The birth of all these babies comes with a pricetag; national health authorities need COP115 billion (US$58 million) to fully vaccinate the chidlren.
“The investment will be 115 billion pesos that will be available to buy all the vaccines for the children we’re expecting,” Marta Velandia, coordinator of the country’s Expended Immunization Plan said.
The government plans to vaccinate all babies against tuberculosis, polio, hepatitus b, diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus and flu.
